Conflicts of interest
Contributors should not write about companies or products in which they have a personal, professional or financial interest that could reasonably be seen to influence their work. Where a relevant relationship exists, it should be disclosed to editors and, where appropriate, to readers.
Financial interests
Contributors should not use information gathered for an article for personal financial gain, and should disclose significant financial interests in companies they cover.
Gifts and incentives
Contributors should not accept gifts, payments or incentives in exchange for coverage or favorable treatment. Products supplied for evaluation do not obligate us to publish coverage or to reach a particular conclusion.
Sources and attribution
We identify sources clearly and attribute information, quotations and data to the people or organizations responsible for them.
Anonymous sources
Anonymity should be rare. It may be considered only when information is important to readers and cannot reasonably be obtained on the record, and the reason should be explained where possible.
Plagiarism
Presenting another person’s work as our own is not acceptable. This includes text, images, data and ideas used without attribution.
Independence
Our editorial judgments are independent of advertisers, manufacturers and other commercial interests. See our Advertising Policy.
